City information

Metropolis of the country and Ontario capital, on the bank of Ontario
lake, it occupies the site of the former French fortress, fortress
Rouillé, established in 1749. The English bought the place to the
Indians in 1787. Then named York, the city becomes major of this part
of Canada. Toronto is the most important industrial and commercial
area of the country. The business district near the lake is dominated
by skyscrapers and the CN tower (553 m).
You can visit the Ontario Royal museum with its collections of
the Chinese antiques, which are, as it is said, the most beautiful
outside of China, and European galleries Samuel, which teem with
furniture, with glass factory and with different objects.
Another more picturesque museum is the Bata shoe museum, the
surprising finds tell the history of humanity ! In the presentation of
the celebrities ' shoes, Elton John numerous shoes met Napoleon
Bonaparte 's socks.
Just a step from the Bata museum is the chic district Bloor-Yorkville,
renowned for its prestigious addresses (Chanel, Louis Vuitton), its
numerous shops of Canadian dressmakers between Yong Street and Road
Avenue, its bookshops, its art galleries, its terraces and its
Victorian style houses. Not to miss: the animation corner Yonge and
Dundas streets, the fullest of life crossroads of the city with its
salesmen of hot dogs and bretzels. The Queen West street (between
University and Bathurst) is also worth the bend. The shops of the
young "avant garde" dressmakers, the audacious shop windows, the
atmosphere of pubs will give you the taste to spend hours there.
If you like antiques and beautiful objects, it is necessary to
visit Harbourfront on the edge of Ontario lake. Besides Queen Quay
Terminal, shopping center which abounds in furniture and in finds
design shops, there is just close an impressive market of antiques.
Take advantage there to make a break, because Harbourfront buzzs of
activities with the lake Ontario in backcloth. To have an open view on
the skyscrapers of the town centre, it is necessary to rise aboard the
ferryboat which connects in 20 minutes Harbourfront with islands Ward.
Another possibility of visit is to drive along the wines roads towards
the Niagara peninsula , famous for its vineyards. It will be possible
to end your evening in beauty by going to attend one of the numerous
musicals occurring in Toronto
